What Iran unleashed towards Israel in its unparalleled assault, and what managed to breach the aerial defenses.

Iran launched an unprecedented assault on Israel over the weekend, deploying hundreds of missiles and drones primarily from its own territory and through Iran-backed groups in multiple countries. The majority of the projectiles were intercepted by Israeli air defenses, resulting in minimal damage, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

The attack aimed to overwhelm Israeli and U.S. air defenses with a combination of drones and cruise missiles to pave the way for Iran's ballistic missiles. Although alerts sounded across Israel around 2 a.m. local time on Sunday, only a small number of ballistic missiles managed to penetrate the defenses, with four hitting Israel's Nevatim Air Base. These missiles caused minor damage, and the base remained operational.

Additionally, several rockets were launched from Lebanon towards northern Israel, prompting Israeli airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. Despite these actions, none of the weapons launched from Lebanon, Yemen, or Iraq breached Israeli territory.
