Iran launched an unprecedented assault on Israel over the weekend, deploying hundreds of missiles and drones primarily from its own territory and through Iran-backed groups in multiple countries. The majority of the projectiles were intercepted by Israeli air defenses, resulting in minimal damage, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

The attack aimed to overwhelm Israeli and U.S. air defenses with a combination of drones and cruise missiles to pave the way for Iran's ballistic missiles.
