Prisco's last 2024 NFL Mock Draft: Giants make a trade to secure their quarterback, while the Vikings patiently await their signal-caller
Alright, for those who might not be following closely, let me provide some context, especially since recent events might have left many of you out of the loop.
This mock draft isn't about who teams should pick, it's about predicting who they will pick. It's all about forecasting, not about what I personally believe should happen. Keep in mind, predictions don't always pan out, and I'm not particularly concerned about being spot-on. It's just my take on how things might unfold.
So, let's dive into it.
I'm starting this mock with the Chicago Bears, who I believe will choose USC quarterback Caleb Williams as the first overall pick. It's a pretty straightforward prediction.
Now, onto the trickier part.
I'm projecting LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels to go second to the Washington Commanders, but after that, I'm mixing things up. The New York Giants, currently at No. 6, are making a move up to No. 3 to snag North Carolina's Drake Maye. They're striking a deal with the New England Patriots, giving up their No. 6 pick along with second-rounders this year and next year to secure Maye.
In return, the Patriots get some much-needed draft capital and use the No. 6 pick to grab Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy, a player they've reportedly been keen on according to sources around the league. It's a mutually beneficial trade, even though I personally rate Maye higher.
The second trade scenario in this mock involves the Philadelphia Eagles, who trade up with the Denver Broncos to the 12th spot to nab Alabama corner Terrion Arnold. They're parting ways with their first-round pick (No. 22), a second-round pick this year (No. 50), and a fourth-round pick in 2025 to seal the deal.
In exchange, the Broncos move back and select Oregon quarterback Bo Nix, while also bolstering their draft picks.
So, there you have it, the gist of my final 2024 mock draft. Take it with a grain of salt, and feel free to voice your opinions, even if you're certain it'll all blow up just a few picks into the actual draft.
