According to a statement given to NBC News, Mandisa was found deceased in her home, with no known cause of death provided at the time. The statement requested prayers for her family and close friends during this challenging period.


The news was further detailed by The Tennessean, stating she was discovered in her Nashville residence.


A message shared on her Facebook page early Friday highlighted Mandisa's impactful presence, describing her as a beacon of encouragement and truth for those grappling with life's trials. It referenced a song she wrote for a friend who passed away in 2017, expressing themes of finding solace in faith.


Mandisa, born Mandisa Lynn Hundley, initially pursued her passion for music in Sacramento, California, before gaining attention on "American Idol." Her journey led to a Grammy win in 2014 for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album, with her album "Overcomer."


The singer's life wasn't without its struggles, as she openly discussed battling depression following the loss of a close friend to breast cancer in 2014. Mandisa credited her faith for pulling her through the darkest moments and emphasized the importance of seeking help when needed.
