Billie Eilish's Unexpected Hit Makes a Comeback
Billie Eilish is gearing up to unveil her third full-length album next month. The singer-songwriter's upcoming album, "Hit Me Hard and Soft," is scheduled for release on May 17, promising to deliver another chart-topping success for the music sensation. Ahead of the album's debut, one of Eilish's most surprising productions is making a noteworthy comeback.
In the latest Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, Eilish reappears with an unexpected triumph. Her track "Hotline (Edit)" lands at No. 46 on the ranking of the most popular tracks in the U.S. categorized as rock or alternative music.
For those unfamiliar, "Hotline (Edit)" is essentially a reinterpretation of Drake's hit single "Hotline Bling." Originally released by the rapper in the summer of 2015, the pop/R&B track achieved widespread success globally, narrowly missing the top spot on the Hot 100 chart.
Eilish introduced her rendition of the song a few years after the original's release. Initially offered as a vinyl exclusive for Record Store Day in 2018, "Hotline (Edit)" quickly expanded to streaming platforms and digital retailers, propelling the young artist to chart success.
The track peaked at No. 20 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart during its initial run. With its current resurgence, "Hotline (Edit)" has now spent a total of eight weeks on the chart.
Additionally, the song also made waves on the Hot Alternative Songs chart, reaching No. 15. While it enjoyed a brief stint on this alternative-focused ranking, it does not manage to reclaim its position on the current iteration.
